You know that moment when you open an AI tool, stare at the empty box, and think… what exactly am I supposed to type here?
You try a quick question. The answer comes back vague. Maybe a little robotic. So you assume the tool isn’t as clever as everyone says it is.
But often, the problem isn’t the AI. It’s the instruction.
Think about it this way: if you ask a real estate agent to “find me a good property in Dubai,” you’ll probably receive a very long list. But if you say, “Find me a two-bedroom waterfront apartment below AED 3 million, with a payment plan and handover before 2029,” the conversation becomes much more useful.
Same tool. Better direction.
That’s the skill behind prompt engineering, and Dubai is offering people a chance to learn it for free.
What is Dubai’s One Million Prompters initiative?
One Million Prompters is a Dubai-led training initiative created to teach people how to communicate more effectively with artificial intelligence tools.
It was launched in May 2024 under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Global registration opened in January 2025 through the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, which is overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation.
The stated goal is ambitious: train one million people in AI and prompt literacy during a three-year period.
And this isn’t limited to UAE citizens, Dubai residents or people already working in technology. According to the programme’s official FAQs, it’s open to learners of any age, country or professional background.
The entire programme is free. No course fee. No subscription. No hidden payment at the end.
You can study online, at your own pace, and begin once you’ve registered and enrolled in the first module.
So, what does the course actually teach?
The programme is made up of four modules, each listed as approximately one hour long.
Module 1: Understanding AI
The first module covers the basics of artificial intelligence, generative AI and prompt literacy.
This is the starting point. What AI can do, how generative tools work and how the quality of an instruction can change the quality of the answer.
No dramatic promises. Just the foundation you need before moving forward.
Module 2: Communicating with AI chatbots
This section focuses on creating clearer and more effective prompts for AI chatbots.
Here’s what I mean. Instead of typing, “Write a property description,” you learn to give the tool context:
Who is the buyer? What type of property is it? What details must be included? What tone should the writing have? What should the tool avoid?
The course teaches the thinking behind those instructions.
Module 3: Using AI for productivity
The third module explores how AI tools can support everyday office work.
That can include organising information, working with data, preparing content and handling routine tasks more efficiently. The official course description focuses on using AI to improve workflows and productivity across professional environments.
And honestly, this is probably where many people will feel the benefit first. Not in some distant, futuristic job but in the task sitting on their desk today.
Module 4: Creative uses of generative AI
The final module looks at AI applications in art, music and video.
It introduces learners to the creative side of generative AI and how these tools can be used across different forms of media.
That’s especially relevant for people working in marketing, design and content production, but the course doesn’t require you to come from a creative background.
Do you receive a certificate?
Yes, but you need to complete the full programme.
The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence states that participants receive an accredited certificate after completing all four modules. The platform’s FAQ explains that this includes completing the lessons, quizzes and assessments.
You don’t receive a separate certificate after every module. Once all four modules show 100% completion and the required quizzes have been passed, the certificate becomes available to download from the fourth module.
The certificate can be issued in Arabic or English, depending on the language selected in your profile.
One important distinction: this is a course certificate in AI and prompt literacy. The programme doesn’t advertise job placement, and completing it doesn’t guarantee employment. The official FAQ says job placement isn’t currently a focus of the initiative.
That’s worth saying plainly because a useful course doesn’t need an exaggerated promise attached to it.
Is the programme only available in Dubai?
No.
Despite being launched from Dubai, the programme is open globally. The official FAQs state that there are no age, location or background restrictions.
The course is currently available in Arabic and English. It’s online and self-paced, so learners don’t need to attend a classroom in Dubai.
You’ll need to register, verify your email and enrol in the first module. Each later module requires separate enrolment and becomes accessible after you’ve completed the previous module’s lessons and quiz.
Why are we talking about this on a real estate website?
Fair question.
At Cielo Properties, we spend a lot of time talking about what Dubai is building new communities, transport links, waterfront destinations and homes that won’t be handed over for several years.
But a city isn’t only building roads and towers. It’s also building skills.
And that matters when you’re trying to understand Dubai properly.
Now, let’s keep our feet on the ground. A free AI course doesn’t automatically increase property prices. It doesn’t guarantee new jobs, and it isn’t proof that every AI initiative will succeed.
Making those claims would be a stretch.
What we can say is that One Million Prompters forms part of the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, a government framework focused on developing AI talent and increasing the adoption of AI across key sectors.
That tells us something concrete about the direction of policy. Dubai isn’t treating AI as a side conversation. It has created a public training programme, opened it globally and set a target of reaching one million learners.
For residents, professionals and business owners, that means access to structured introductory training without having to pay for a private course.
And for someone considering Dubai as a place to live, work or invest, it offers another small but revealing look at how the city prepares for change.
Not just with announcements. With a course you can actually join.
How to register
Getting started is fairly simple:
- Visit the official One Million Prompters course page.
- Select Sign Up and create an account.
- Verify your email address.
- Enrol in the first module.
- Complete the lessons and pass the quiz.
- Enrol in each following module as it becomes available.
- Complete all four modules and assessments to download your certificate.
The modules are listed at one hour each, so the core course content totals roughly four hours. Allow additional time for registration, quizzes and assessments.
That’s manageable. One quiet evening, perhaps. Or four lunch breaks if that suits you better.
The honest takeaway
AI can feel overwhelming because the conversation around it is often full of huge predictions and unfamiliar language.
This course brings the subject back down to earth.
It’s free. It’s online. It’s open globally. And it teaches a practical skill: how to give AI clearer instructions and use the results more effectively in real work.
You don’t need to become an AI engineer. You don’t need to know how to code. You just need to start with the first module and see whether the skill is useful to you.
Because sometimes “getting ready for the future” sounds like an enormous task…
And sometimes, it starts with learning how to ask a better question.
