Top Ten Projects That Will Shape Dubai’s Future

Dubai is known as the hub of visionary approach, and it continues to amaze the world with its ambitious projects. Here are the top ten remarkable developments that are key drivers of Dubai’s ongoing evolution. These projects show Dubai's dedication to innovation and sustainability, holding up its status as a global hub for tourism, business, technology, and real estate.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

Dubai is building one of the world's largest solar projects, worth AED 50 billion to support sustainable energy initiatives in the new Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, this park aims to produce 5,000 megawatts of electricity. It covers 77 square kilometers and is located in Saih Al-Dahal, south of Dubai.

Upon completion, the solar park is expected to reduce more than 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, supporting Dubai's goal of providing 100% of its energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

The power generated from the solar park is sold to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under power purchase agreements (PPAs) with various rates. For example, the second phase has a PPA rate of $0.056 per kilowatt-hour for 25 years, while the third phase has a PPA rate of $0.029 per kilowatt-hour.

Floating Pedestrian Bridge

Dubai announced a new floating pedestrian bridge on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, linking two sides of Al Mamzar Beach. This 200-meter floating bridge is built right over the water surface, allowing visitors to venture deep over a water body without getting wet. It will be the first of its kind in Dubai and is expected to be completed in 18 months. The Dh355-million project will develop 4.3km of Al Mamzar beach and 1.4km of Jumeirah 1 beach. The beaches will be raised to withstand climate change better. Over half a million cubic meters of sand will be used for this.

The beaches will have an automatic irrigation system to keep them green and will be supported with 1,400 parking spots. Other features include safety deposit boxes, WiFi, electronic screens, rescue services, and 100 security cameras connected to Dubai Municipality and police control rooms.
